We hosted Christmas Eve dinner with some traditional polish food - Dearborn Ham and sauerkraut and kielbasa made by my 83 year old grandpa. Having my grandpa come on Christmas Eve is such a blessing. He's 83 and acts like a 30 year old! We always went to my grandma and papa's house on Christmas Eve when I was a kid so I feel very lucky that I now get to have him at my house! The kids were very happy to see their Uncle Ryan since he made the trek from Boston. They opened their gifts from my mom and dad on Christmas Eve. Grandma and Papa know how to over do it just a little but then again, that's what grandparents get to do. Audrey was very excited to get the bed for Kit and more Kit clothing and accessories. Sawyer got two different Duplo Thomas the Train kits that he really likes. He tells me how to put them together and knows if I'm doing it incorrectly. He'll say, "NO Mama! Do this way."
After the company left we set out our cookies for Santa and carrots for the reindeer. Audrey got smart this year and said we had to put out 9 carrots, one for each. We watched the Grinch, read The Night Before Christmas and sent them to bed. Audrey took going right to sleep very seriously, so seriously that I forgot to make her go potty. I went up there to get her after 15 minutes and she said she really had to go but didn't want to get out of bed and make Santa mad. Good thing I took care of what would have been a middle of the night disaster! After that it was time for Mr. and Mrs. Clause to get assembling and arranging, that part is so much fun! Next was to try to sleep even though we were so excited for the morning!
