Go Green!

The Blue Moon Girls
The Blue Moon Babies watching movies
Ben and neighbor Jeff enjoying the fire pit
Big Sis and Lil Bro!
Just 8 of the 17 kids that invaded!

Well, Audrey is at her first day of preschool on her own. She didn't seem to mind me leaving at all. The teacher was taking them right outside on the playground so she seemed excited. There was only one cryer today as opposed to the five on Thursday. Sawyer and I went to the grocery store after dropping her off. It's been a long time since I've gone to the grocery store with only one kids. Now he's napping and I'm on my own. That doesn't happen all that often either!

We had a tailgate at our house this weekend with friends and neighbors. MSU beat ND which is good because the only thing worse than an ND fan is a U of M fan. Since U of M lost big time to ND our chances to romp the Wolverines are looking pretty good. KNOCK ON WOOD all you Sparty fans!

The party turned out great. All the kids got along. As always, Audrey and her little friends were big partiers, staying up until after 12:00! It was awesome to see all my Blue Moon friends since we all have kids now and don't get to see each other very often. The kids took out every toy in my house and made a bigger mess than I've seen in my life but they had fun. They also enjoyed the castle bouncy house that my mom bought from a lady at school. It will be pictured in a future post. The dads were all happy and managed to finish the whole keg by 8:30, OK maybe the moms helped too!

First Day of School

Audrey's teacher and teacher's assistant - Mrs. Zachar and Mrs. Supernaught

The first day of school finally arrived! Audrey loved it. She was not hesitant at all to get involved. She actually talked too much and I think the teacher is going to have to work on raising hands with Audrey. When they introduced themselves to each other she blurted out"I'm Audrey and I know how to spell Audrey, A-u-d-r-e-y!" She also felt free to interject her life story into whatever the teacher was talking about. You could tell she is used to lots of talking and attention at home. She was not shy at all, takes after Ben in that department.

The first day was only 1 hour, usually class is 2 hr 15 min. They crammed a lot into 1 hour though. A three year old has the attention span of a fruit fly. They found their cubby, introduced themselves, sang a song, had a tour of the room, played with blocks, did an art project, read a book and went home. Being a preschool teacher would be an exhausting job. When we got to the car Audrey said, "I love my school!" Ben and I were so happy she enjoyed her first day.

10 Months????

Short clip of Sawyer walking, camera battery died.

How did this happen??? The time has gone by so quickly. Sawyer is doing well and changing everyday. It seems like he does something new every few days. He stands on his own now, not for long, but the stretches are getting longer. He walks around and pushes various items to help him balance. He favorite activity is climbing the stairs. He also gets excited when he sees that the bathroom door is open and then makes a beeline for the toilet. I've caught him with wet hands on two occasions, gross. Another favorite activity is opening my kitchen cupboards and taking out the pots and pans. He is eating a lot of what we eat at mealtime and baby food too, especially veggies. He is a little piggy and eats whatever you give him. He also loves paper, leaves and grass. I can't believe he'll be 1 in two more months!

Recent Happenings

Having a picnic with all their "friends".
Dancing to ABC, Sawyer is trying to join in.
Big slide at Kensington, Sawyer looks concerned.
Life is getting hectic again now that summer is winding down and the school year has started. I am watching Tyler again while Brandy works, two days a week. The kids had fun last week and I think they were very happy to be back together. It is much easier now that everyone is a little older. Audrey and Tyler played very well. He can talk better and she can share better so that makes us all happy!

Audrey has really taken to her bike lately. She can ride it around our whole neighborhood, about 1 mile. We usually do this twice a day. We are developing our female version of Lance Armstrong. She isn't too sure how the brakes work. Today I had to leave Sawyer on the side of the road in his little car so I could go chase her down the sidewalk. We took her to Kensington over the weekend. It is very hilly there and we were both impressed with how well she did. It's amazing how quickly they learn something new.

Audrey starts preschool next Monday. She is VERY excited. She loves playing school at home. I really think she is going to love preschool. She is still asking me if I am going to stay with her so we will see what she thinks when I leave. I bought her a very cute outfit for the first day, look for pictures next week. I almost started crying when I left the store, just thinking of her going to school! Ben and I get to go with her the first day and then after that she's on her own. She is also starting dance again in a few weeks. Can't wait to see what that brings!

Labor Day Weekend

HMMMM? How did he get in that crib? Someone thinks that Sawyer is a baby doll.
Dru and Audrey enjoying the lake.

Matching uncle and nephew, how cute!

Uncle Ryan giving Audrey a ride on a noodle.
We had an absolutely beautiful weekend here in MI, mid 80s and sunny. We took advantage of what will be one of our last really warm weekends and did a lot of swimming. We also had a surprise party for my dad, check the post below.
On Sunday we went to visit our friends Katherine and Dave and their kids Dru and Kate at the campground they were staying at. Audrey loved their big camper but kept calling it the mini-van, guess she's a little confused with our new car. Dru, Kate and Audrey had a blast swimming at the lake and playing in the sand. Sawyer enjoyed eating the sand and other gross stuff in the water. Later that night his diaper smelled like a swamp, I know, TMI. Audrey was mad when we left before dark because she wanted to roast watermelons! I love the vocab mix-ups of a 3 year old!
Uncle Ryan flew in for the party so we spent a lot of time with him as well. The kids enjoyed playing with him outside and swimming with him at my mom and dad's pool. Sawyer is warming up to him and will now smile at him, big improvement! Ben and I also enjoyed our 2 hour long UNO game with Ryan!

Surprise!

On Saturday we pulled off a big surprise b-day party for my dad and one of his good friends, Bob Merritt. They are both turning 60 this month. Audrey loved the party and loved saying surprise when my dad arrived. She made friends with everyone and told me she was serving all of her "great papas" some tea. I really have no clue why she was calling them great papas but it was pretty funny. Sawyer on the other hand, was not as fond of the 45 people cramming into one room and all yelling surprise. The only way he would calm down was if we let him suck on an empty beer bottle. Also, check out his red hair. It is getting redder by the day!
