Audreyism

Most of our posts have focused on Sawyer so I thought I would add a cute one about Audrey. Last weekend I asked her what she wants to be when she grows up. First she said a teacher like grandma. Then she changed her mind and said she wants to be a doctor. When I asked her what kind of doctor she wants to be she said, "I want to be a Dr. Seuss". Pretty cute!!

Sawyer's Skills Part 1

I posted 2 videos of Sawyer but they both wouldn't fit on one post. See below for Sawyer's Skills Part 2. We've reached the 11 week mark today. He's staying awake a lot more during the day. It's hard for him to sleep with all the action going on around here. That must be the reason he sleeps 10 hours at night. He is getting much stronger and can hold up his head very well. He also can stand holding onto our fingers. He hates going on his stomach, as you can see from the video. It's probably because I don't do it enough since there just isn't time to get him calmed down afterwards. He is a much more vocal baby than Audrey was. On the positive side of that, we get a lot more coos and little noises and laughs. On the negative end, we get a lot more crying and screeching. Sometimes I think I had a piglet instead of a baby.

Sawyer's Skills Part 2

Here is a clip of us trying to get Sawyer to sit. Give him a break, he's only 11 weeks. Audrey finds it very humorous. You can hear her laughing in the background.

Sawyer's Visit to the Doctor

Sawyer saw the doctor today for his two month check up. I was not looking forward to the visit for several reasons. The first being I have learned it is much more difficult to take two kids to the doctor than one, especially when one of them can't be strapped down in a car seat. The last time we went we had to wait for an hour and Audrey got in a fight with some kid in the waiting room who didn't even speak English. She ended up knocking over his chair and he ended up screaming. Needless to say, I wasn't looking forward to that again. Luckily we didn't have to wait today so there were no fights in the waiting room. I also wasn't looking forward to all the vaccines. I only wanted to get one at a time but of course the doctors always try to convince you otherwise. Even if there is no link to autism, I can't help my paranoia after 5 years of teaching special ed.

Sawyer weighed 12 lbs 10 oz and was 24 in long. I can't believe he's gained exactly 5 lbs since birth and grown 3 inches!! No wonder newborns eat and sleep so much. I ended up just getting him one vaccine, the rotavirus vaccine. He didn't mind it at all because it was oral. The nurse said it is grape flavored and apparently Sawyer really likes grapes because he was all smiles after drinking it down. Overall the visit went well and Sawyer got a clean bill of health.

Life with Three Kids!

Here's a quick update of the past few weeks.

  • I've started watching Brandy and Brad's baby, Tyler. He's 15 months. He comes over 2 1/2 days a week. It is very busy but I think the kids have fun playing. They are both learning some much needed social skills. Ben's mom came this week and gave a huge helping hand but next week I'm on my own and greatly outnumbered. Never underestimate the power of 2 toddlers and one newborn!

  • Sawyer is now 2 months. He sleeps from 10:00 at night until 8:00 in the morning. I can't believe it! He does swing all night though! Maybe when he goes to kindergarten we'll move him to his crib but for now we are happy with the sleep so in the swing he will stay.

  • Ben got a new baby. A 42 in LCD Toshiba! It's now hanging on our wall in the family room. He's a very proud papa! He was so desperate to get the TV on New Year's day that he snowblowed the street and driveway so we could get out. It took 3 hours to blow the 15+ in. dumping of snow we got but I guess he thought it was all worth it!

Happy 2008!

We celebrated 2008 with 3 little girls! All the boys went to sleep by 10:00 but the girls weren't having any of that. We tried to get Audrey and Dru to watch movies upstairs, they looked so cute in their little sleeping bags. They lasted about an hour but then they wanted to come back down to join the party. When I look at the picture of Audrey and Dru in their party hats it's a little scary because it is very reminiscent of my party days at MSU. We hope you appreciate the pic of all 6 babies, Sawyer is the one flopped over on the far left. Next year there will be two more babies to add to the picture and then that should be it for a while.

We can't believe it's already 2008! We hope it will be a great year. It should be a fun and busy one with two little ones. Happy New Year to you all!!!
