Father's Day Weekend

Sawyer mowing the concrete at Kensington and Audrey being lazy.

Bonus shot. He always escapes when I'm trying to change him and tries to ride his "tuk".

Kiddie sized planes

We had a busy Father's Day! In the morning we went out to a small airport in Plymouth with Great Grandma B for a pancake breakfast. The kids got to run around and see all the cool airiplanes and helicopters. Sawyer was in heaven. Audrey didn't care for the noise. She said she didn't like planes and helicopters, only princesses. I thought she decided princesses were annoying but evidently not. The kid sized planes were made by Ben's grandpa B. They were on display for all the children to enjoy. They got a big kick out of sitting in those planes!

After breakfast we went out to Kensington so Ben and Audrey could fish and Sawyer could mow about 100 acres of grass. You can't separate the kid from his lawn mower and his truck. They entertain him for a good 2 hours every day. We had a picnic and went to the petting farm there as well.

After the park we headed out to my mom and dad's house so Ben could fish some more on their boat. He caught one there so that made his Father's Day a happy one. After fishing we had a great dinner of steak and king crab legs! YUMMY!

Happy Father's Day to the best Daddy ever! The kids are lucky to have you!

The Latest and Greatest

This week I took the kids to the dr. for their check ups, Audrey's 4 year and Sawyer's 18 month. Sawyer did a little better than at 15 month, only crying when he got weighed. Audrey took her DTP vaccine like a champ and didn't even cry. Sawyer's 33 1/4 inches and 25 lbs. and Audrey is 40 inches and 36 lbs. She's really slowed down and Sawyer's keeping up a steady pace.

Sawyer loves riding his truck. You can see from the video that he is super fast. Ben and I think he looks like a crab if you watch his legs. Sometimes he goes so fast when he turns a corner that it goes up on two wheels, sometimes he tips over but he never cries about it, which is a little worrisome to me. Where's the pain response?? Other news on Sawyer - he's going through a picky eating phase, which is highly annoying. He used to eat everything on his plate, now he's demanding bacon and nuggets and I have to bribe him to eat fruits and vegetables with icy pops. It works though.

Audrey is still the dramatic, actress of the family. I'll set up the scene in the video clip - Many of you probably remember the opening scene to Annie, where she's sitting in the window seat singing "Maybe", well, Audrey loves to sit under Ben's bathroom vanity cupboards and make a window seat so she can be just like Annie. She even tries to get the mood of the song write, not sure about the key, but she's trying.

Another note on Audrey for the record books - We went to the mall on Thursday and she picked a used cup out of the trash at Payless and took a drink out of it. I was so disgusted. I couldn't believe she did it. She said it tasted like bananas!! GROSS!

It's official....

this blog has become my baby book. I've never been into recording milestones in the traditional baby book way. I wasn't good with Audrey and am worse with Sawyer. I am great with photos, not so much with cheesy baby books. Maybe it's that they tell me what I am supposed to be recording and I don't like to be told what to do. So here you have it, my baby book on the internet. Who knew I was so modern =-) Some of the stuff may bore you, but for me it's priceless. I print out all of the pages and save them so when I'm old and bored I can look back at my busy life with these fun and crazy kids.

Audrey update: A funny thing she said - "I know the days of the week - Monday, Tuesday, Threesday, Foursday, Fivesday." I thought that was smart and funny. Another new development. When mad, Audrey now says, "I'm never gonna be a princess. I was trying hard but now I am too mad to be a princess." I am glad about this. I really don't care for princesses.

Sawyer update: He has more words than I can count. He can pretty much repeat anything now. He now tattles on Audrey and will come find me and say, "Auda, hit." She's not getting away with anything now. He also will repeat a word over and over and get in your face until you confirm that you understand what he is saying. This is challenging because his articulation is, well, let's just say, that of an 18 month old. Another funny thing: If I give him a meal he doesn't like he just says, "nugget, nugget, nugget." He already knows about chicken nuggets and how yummy they are!

New Do

Before shot. Diggin' the sunglasses and the bright red ear flaps.
Baby mullet in full force.

During the cut. Notice "dis" is with him.
After...so cute!
The baby mullet was beginning to reach an obnoxious white trash length so Barber Ben came to the rescue. I had been saying every week for the past month that I was going to take him to get a haircut but I kept putting it off. I knew he would just scream the whole time and try to squirm out of the chair. Ben took matters into his own hands on Sunday night and I must say that he did a pretty good job. Sawyer didn't mind the clippers at all. He just sat there and watched in the mirror. I am especially glad I did not pay some beauty school drop out at Fantastic Sams twenty bucks to do the job. Now would I let Ben cut Audrey's hair? Probably not.
